M/Studio is an architecture practice based in Copenhagen
formed by Arch. Andrea Sforzin and Arch. Fabrizio Giannachi.
In this moment we are facing one of the most important challenges of our time, the climate change. We firmly believe that, as young architects, we have the task of designing the world of tomorrow, providing tangible solutions to the problems of today’s cities. The problems we face mostly concern the sustainability of architectural projects, but also the affordability of housing. How to study a new way of doing architecture, that considers both its impact on the world and becomes within everyone’s reach, young people and the new precarious workers that these decades have generated. M/studio is looking for an architecture that focuses on environmental issues, collaborating with specialists from other sectors (like farmers, engineers, and new technologies experts) in order to create a network that will produce a smart architecture, made up of skills, attention and technology.
The construction techniques, along with a deep formal research, are the basis of our work; in fact, we believe that every project must be the sum of studies on the place and its history, on the population and techniques, so as to make a project tailored to each place. To face the problem of the affordability of housing we are constantly looking for methods of reuse of materials, alternative building techniques and social housing. Our idea is to make a democratic architecture, not a luxury for a few. We believe that building better cities can be the catalyst for the change of our age, to create a more open and aware citizenship.
